21 Pinoy Peacekeepers are being captive by the Syrian rebels in Golan Heights because of rivalry between Syria and Israel. According to the rebels, the exchange of the hostage is to leave the Border Village in Al Jamlah by the Syrian Army. The rebel says that if the Syrian Army didn’t leave the Al Jamlah within 24 hours the Pinoy peacekeepers will be permanently captive.

The AFP confirmed that all hostage peacekeepers are all Filipino that deployed in Golan Heights last November. This is the second time that the rebel captive the peacekeepers, and in the second time, the peacekeepers were not released by the rebels and the keys of the cars of the peacekeepers are in the hands of the Syrian rebels.

3 out of 21 peacekeepers are Official Officers. And all soldiers of Armed Forces of the Philippines are being treated well by the Syrian rebels.

The Malacañang Palace ensures that the life of the soldiers is not in risk, they are not in danger.

The Syrian Rebels accused the peacekeepers that they are helping the Syrian Government so that they captured.

The UNDOF and Syrian Rebels are continually negotiating for the fast released of the Pinoy Peacekeepers.

The 21 Pinoy Peacemakers were failed to be released by the Syrian rebels in Golan Heights.

The United Nations are trying to continue the on going negotiation for the safety of the captives.

“WE THE UN PERSONNEL HERE ARE SAFE. THEY GIVE US WATER FOR DRINK, DON’T WORRY WE ARE IN SAFE PLACE. TO OUR FAMILY, WE HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON, WE’RE OKAY HERE. THANK YOU.”

- message of the Pinoy Peacekeepers

The AFP easily accepted the videos as a proof that the soldiers are safe in Syria.
They are giving foods, drinks, etc. which are not the usual treatment for the captives by the capturers.

According to DFA, the release of the soldiers in Syria didn’t happen. But the DFA assures the negotiation of the partners of them for the fast release of the soldiers. They believe that the soldiers will be released as soon as possible.

Currently, there are 333 Pinoy Peacekeepers working in Golan Heights.
