An election is a formal decision-making
process by which a population chooses an individual to hold public
office.
The Commission
on Elections (COMELEC)
is responsible for running the elections.
Every citizen
above the age of 18 on Election Day may vote. In order to actually vote, a
citizen has to register. The COMELEC has a registration
period a few months prior to the election. Those who are not registered will
not appear on the voters' list and is ineligible to vote despite being
qualified to do so.
Democracy
is a means for the people to choose their leaders and to hold their leaders
accountable for their policies and their conduct in office.
In
a democracy, the people are sovereign—they are the highest form of political
authority.
As
a citizen of the Philippines and with the right age, I have to do my duties and
obligations to help improve our country. In the Philippines, one of the
democratic countries in Asia, the Filipino people have the right to possess
their rights and every right has a corresponding limitations.
The
people have the right to choose and replace the government through
free and fair elections. We need to choose the right leaders who will serve as
a good representative in our country. One way to improve a democratic country
is through choosing the right candidates/leaders. Voting is so powerful, the
future of the country lies here. If you vote wisely, for sure it will return a
good.
When
you are in legal age, you have the right to exercise your power in voting.
Here’s
how to. First, you must register in your place to become a voter. Make sure
that all the details in the form you filled up are correct. And at the day of
the election, you need to go to the place where the location of voting takes
place and you need to see your name in the list to vote.
As
a first time voter, we need to choose the right candidates who will help to
support/improve the lives of people. Candidates who are faithful in serving,
responsible, have a good will and most of all, God-fearing.
We
need to respect the votes of others.
Many
politics nowadays are giving money for them to win, in short, Bribing. We need
to vote according to our conscience. Those people we know who have good will to
serve the people and are responsible leaders are the best and deserving.
